It looks like field goals weren’t the only record broken during this year’s Big Game.
According to NBC, nearly 1 in 4 Americans placed a bet for this year’s game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs, amounting to roughly $23 billion. Unfortunately, we know all too well that fraudsters follow the money and this game will inevitably induce a flurry of fraudulent activity like account takeover attacks and credential stuffing.
In this conversation, we recap the Big Game — but not in the way you think! HUMAN's own Gabriel Cirlig, João Santos and moderator Rosemary Cipriano discuss:
- What we saw on sports betting apps and the dark web leading up to and during the Big Game
- How fraudsters attempted to steal a piece of the pie
- What we can learn for next time
